D24 Network, in cooperation with students from the German University of “Hildesheim”, has recently held its third photographic exhibition on the province of Deir Ezzor, the German city of Hannover hosted this D24’s exhibition. It lasted for three days, and it witnessed a huge attendance by several students from the University of Hannover and some of its professors as well. It should be pointed out that two photographic exhibitions preceded this one in Hannover and they were held in two different German cities last month by D24.

The exhibition puts the spotlight on all the different phases the Syrian Revolution has gone through until now. At the beginning of the event, D24 displayed more than 60 photographic pictures that portray the revolutionary activities that have taken place in Deir Ezzor so far. The regime’s aggression and atrocity against the rebellious province, which includes indiscriminatory shelling on residential buildings and civilian targets, were brought into light. Images manifesting  funeral processions for Deir Ezzor’s martyrs who fell during the peaceful protests in early days of the revolution were also presented.

After that, D24 moved to exhibit pictures depicting the civilian aspect of the city of Deir Ezzor and its countryside. Images viewing displaced people due to regime’s violent air strikes, which the province has witnessed on a daily basis since 2011, were demonstrated. The suffering and deplorable conditions civilians in Deir Ezzor have been going through were also part of the exhibition’s focus.

Children of Deir Ezzor were not neglected and overlooked during the event as D24 explained their suffering by exhibiting numerous pictures revealing and exposing huge amount of destruction in children’s schools and parks. D24 highlighted how children are now imitating extremists groups, on top of them Daesh, who carry out execution against militants and civilians they capture. After the destruction of most of the aspects of childhood in the province, the only way children can have fun now is through the imitation of Daesh’s execution videos and others, this was explained with display of a number of images as well.

The crimes and massacres perpetrated by the Assad-regime and extremists groups were also addressed. In this part of the exhibition, D24 elucidated and showed photos that uncover and unveil the regime’s barbarity and criminality that has reached a very inhumane stage, as it has not only targeted civilians but also holy places such as mosques, churches, as well as a number of historical landmarks found in the province of Deir Ezzor, including the suspension bridge ( Al-Jisr Al-Muaalaq), which is regarded as a historical symbol that characterizes the province.

At the end of the exhibition, D24 put on display images suggesting that the Syrian people, mainly the people of Deir Ezzor, are still firm on their path and have not given up yet, despite the huge sacrifices they have offered since 2011. The exhibition is an attempt by D24 to attract the attention of Western society and others to the eastern Syrian province of Deir Ezzor; which has been subjected to all types of brutal crimes by all of the Assad-regime, Daesh and Russian indiscriminatory shelling, which is complicit in the killing of civilians in the province.
