Fierce clashes rage on multiple fronts in Deir Ezzor between Daesh and Assad forces

Fierce clashes have been ongoing between Assad forces and Daesh on multiple fronts in Deir Ezzor province since Tuesday morning, amid intense Russian and Assad-regime air strikes on Daesh-held neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city.

Heavy fighting broke out between Assad forces and Daesh fighters in Deir Ezzor this morning, in conjunction with mutual bombardment in Al-Bughayliyah, Al-Huwayqa district of Deir Ezzor, and Al-Qalb Hospital; which is located on the banks of the Euphrates River. Daesh also launched a simultaneous attack on Assad forces in the vicinity of Brigade 137, shelled Al-Qalb Hospital, using tanks and targeted Assad-regime held neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor with mortar shells, wounding a number of civilians.

Heavy smoke has been covering the sky of the city since Monday, after Daesh fighters burned ties to hinder Russian air strikes on areas where clashes are concentrated.  Al-Ruwad areas in Deir Ezzor was also bombed by Russian warplanes, meanwhile, Assad-regime conducted heavy air strikes on Al-Huwayqa and Al-Rashidiyah neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor, which are controlled by Daesh. Air raids were also conducted on Al-Junaynah in the western countryside.

Both parties have suffered causalities in the ongoing clashes, with no reports of any significant gains yet.

These attacks came after a massive mobilization by Daesh in different areas of Deir Ezzor province yesterday.
