Potatoes are now available again at markets in the besieged districts of Deir Ezzor after the city had witnessed a severe shortage of them in recent days. Potatoes had previously been sold at 3000 Syrian lira per kg; however, today potatoes are being sold at 1200 lira, and sugar at 3500 lira per kg at the markets situated in Al-Wadi Street of Deir Ezzor city.

Local sources in the trapped districts of Deir Ezzor indicated to D24 that the Assad-regime cargo planes dropped yesterday food shipments over the besieged districts of Deir Ezzor, and then they were distributed to the regime-run stock markets.

Food prices are on the rise in rural Deir Ezzor amid ongoing intense battles in northern Aleppo which have cut off all routes linking northern Syria to Deir Ezzor province.

It should be noted that ISIS has imposed a genocidal siege upon the regime-held Al-Joura and Al-Qusour districts of Deir Ezzor for more than a year now. More than 200 thousand civilians are living in deplorable conditions and a severe deteriorating health situation due to the unhuman siege.
