Sheikh Khalil Aboud Jadaa Al-Hafl, the son of Sheikh Khalil, popular and eminent leader of Okaidat tribe, passed away today in his hometown of Diban in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

Sheikh Khalil was born in 1942 in the town of Diban. His mother’s name is Bent Al-Aqeed Abdl Aziz Al-Hafl. He had eight brothers, Al-nouri, Majham, Raghib, Wadhm, Hafl, Thamer, Mahed and Mohamed.

He went to elementary, middle and high school where he managed to  succeed in all of them, however, he did not pursue his study for his presence among his family at the time and because he was most of the time in Damascus.

After the death of his father, Sheikh Aboud Jaadan in 1987, he became the chief tribal leader of Okaidat tribe and had a seat in the People’s Assembly by acclamation, and then he was elected for six sessions in parliament. Among his most notable achievements was a convergence between the Shammar tribe and Okaidat who hated and fought each other for a long period.

As a member of a delegation of the parliament, he visited several countries, including Egypt, Gulf States, Algeria, Morocco and China. He was also a member in the Arab National Council.
