The US military announced yesterday the death of a senior Daesh commander who was operating in Deir Ezzor province. He was eliminated in the landing operation which was carried out by the US-led Coalition near the city of Mayadin on April 06, 2017.

His name is ‘Abdurakhmon Uzbeki’. He served as a senior Daesh commander and was a close associate of Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.

According to the US military ”Uzbeki “facilitated the movement of ISIS foreign terror fighters and funds,”. He “played a key role” in the group’s “external terror attack plotting.”

US intelligence officials have concluded that Uzbeki “facilitated the high profile attack” on the Reina nightclub in Istanbul, Turkey this past New Year’s Eve. The massacre left 39 people dead and dozens more wounded.

Deir Ezzor province has become a safe haven for high-ranking Daesh commanders fleeing the battlefield in Al-Raqqa, Mosul and elsewhere. It is also the place where they are reorganizing their ranks to launch counterattacks or defend their last main strongholds in the region.
