Taxes are imposed by the Assad’s forces on goods entering Deir Ezzor.

Military forces from the Fourth Division of the Assad forces have imposed taxes on goods entering from the SDF areas to the Assad regime areas and vice versa.

The Fourth Division controls the main entrances to Deir Ezzor city as well as the crossings with the areas controlled by the SDF after the Russian troops left those points.

According to D24 correspondent:

The value of “the unofficial” taxes amounts to 10% of the total value of the goods entering the areas controlled by the Assad regime from the areas controlled by the SDF or vice versa.

Our correspondent added:

” the tax on used clothing amounts to 165 SYP per kilogram, and also all types of goods even the prohibited ones pass through these points controlled by the Fourth Division, as the tax rate increases if these items are prohibited by the Assad regime, such as the Turkish goods that are now entering through the Fourth Division checkpoints to the areas of the Assad regime.

These unofficial taxes increase the price of foodstuffs entering Deir Ezzor and this increase is added to the sales prices, which makes Deir Ezzor civilians victims of the exploitation and arbitrariness of the Assad regime’s military power.
